This game took place in front of members of the Académie des Sciences — but there are conflicting reports as to whether it took place at the Académie, or if there were just representatives from the Académie present for the game. Anyway, that’s what the note-taking guys with the little badges are supposed to represent. They were trying to figure out how it worked… and couldn’t.
