Schlumberger was described by different writers as “tall [and] stooping”, and as having “a remarkable stoop in the shoulders”. For the purpose of the story, I attributed his symptoms to kyphosis . If any of my readers have — or know anyone who has — this condition, please do let me know if I’m portraying it correctly.
